​EEO Complaint Types

The Cal OES EEO Offices handles employee and applicant complaints.

 

Discrimination -

Differential treatment or harassment based on "protected characteristics". Discrimination is prohibited by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other federal legislation; governed by the EEOC.

 

Sexual Harassment -

Sexual harassment is generally defined as unsolicited and/or unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature directed to a person of the same or of the opposite sex.

 

Retaliation -

Adverse action taken by an employer against an employee or former employee because they exercised a protected right under the anti-discrimination laws, spoke out against discrimination, or assisted someone in exercising their rights.

 

Workplace Violence -

Verbal, written or physical intimidation, threats, assaults, and acts of violence in the workplace.
